Jan Jamrog is the 2014 Northern Neck Anglers Club “Angler of the Year”. He is being presented with the winner’s plaque by the tournament sponsor Heidi Wilkins, owner of Jett’s Hardware in Reedville VA.
This award is based on the cumulative results of six club tournaments held from May to October. Those tournaments targeted eight different saltwater species. Scoring is based on weight, with four points for a first place, three for second, two for third, and one point for any of the specifically targeted species entered during an NNAC tournament. This is Jan’s second time around having previously won the contest in 2012.
Jan captured the 2014 award with a total of 29 points. He scored points in each of the 6 NNAC tournaments. During the tournament season, Jan finished 1st during 3 separate tournaments for the species of Bluefish and Speckled Trout (twice).
His boat “BAY VIEW” is based out of Buzzard’s Point Marina in Reedville VA. Jan has been fishing the waters of the Middle Chesapeake Bay and the Great Wicomico River since buying his Heathsville home in 2008. He credits the club and the many knowledgeable members with helping him make the transition from fishing fresh to salt water.
During 2014 Jan served as the Vice-President of the club. He has also worked as tournament director and the club webmaster.
The Northern Neck Anglers Club is dedicated to educating anglers about saltwater fishing techniques throughout the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas of the Chesapeake Bay. Regular club meetings, newsletters and seminars allow members to share information regarding the latest tackle, marine hardware/software, bait selection, techniques and local fishing hot spots.
